Affiliate Link
What is it?
An affiliate link is a unique URL that contains an identifier for the affiliate who is promoting a product or service. When a customer clicks on this link and makes a purchase, the sale is attributed to the affiliate, who then earns a commission.
Example:
A fitness influencer on Instagram posts a photo of themselves using a particular brand of protein powder. In the caption, they include a link: "https://proteinstore.com/buy?ref=fitnessguru123". This is an affiliate link that tracks any purchases made through it back to the influencer.
How can it be used?
Affiliate links are widely used in digital marketing and can be:
Inserted into blog posts: "Check out my review of the best running shoes, with affiliate links in the product descriptions."
Shared on social media: "Swipe up to shop my outfit! #ad #affiliatelink"
Included in email newsletters: "Exclusive discount for my subscribers - use my affiliate link for 10% off!"
Disclosed in content: "This video contains affiliate links. If you use these links to buy something, I may earn a commission at no additional cost to you."
Tracked by marketers: "Our analytics show that affiliate link clicks increased by 30% this quarter."
